Actually, most ethnic people that I know also think he was white. Most feel he was a somewhat tanned, rugged type of guy. I think religious art has propogated the creamy white complexion but I don't think most people, even the very religious, really believe that is an accurate depiction.

well he wasn't 'white' as in 'caucasian' - but im sure he was fair skinned. He was Hebrew (which is actually quite different from Arabic) - most Jews today are still a pretty homogenous group, descended from the same Hebrews Jesus descended from. Look at Israeli Jews: fair skinned.
Any non-Arab; non-European bred Jew in the Mediterreanean Middle East: Israel, Syria, Turkey, etc. are going to have similar features to Jesus: not blue-eyed caucasians; but fair/olive skinned.
